The Bluetones - one of the bands cited with kick-starting BritPop - will return to London in May 2008 for a long-awaited gig at the prestigious indigO2 venue.
In 1996, the lads from Hounslow, West London, were fully-formed as one of the most exciting – and yet also the most nonchalant – bands of their generation.
With 13 Top 40 UK Chart entries under their belts, they have perennially gone about their business with the maximum ease and the minimum drama. Along with a little charm and a lot of style, obviously!
Following a short period of solo activity (frontman Mark Morriss as an acoustic troubadour, bassist Scott Morris as a graphic designer, guitarist Adam Devlin as a songwriter and drummer Ed Chesters going back to Uni to study), the band came back in 2006 with their fifth album, The Bluetones. Since their Number One debut album, 1996’s Expecting To Fly, The Bluetones have outlived many of their peers from the 90’s and are still going strong.
In 2007 they toured across the UK and released The Blue Movies DVD collection which included comments from David Walliams.Their new album Collection is due for release by Universal on April 28th.
Described by the News Of The World as “One of the UK’s most criminally underrated live acts”, the boys are back to prove the critics right, performing to their fans in the fantastic indigO2 venue.
