WORLD MUSIC ICON: MERCEDES SOSA

Argentina's greatest artist, Mercedes Sosa, will perform a one-off exclusive concert at indigO2 on Tuesday 15th July. This will be the first time in five years fans in London can watch her perform songs from her incredible repertoire and her last release Corazon Libre.

Honoured all over the world as The Voice of Latin America and revered in her native Argentina as 'a symbol of life and freedom,' Mercedes Sosa remains a dynamic, inspiring figure, and one of the most versatile artists on the world music scene. Sosa is also widely known for her message of peace, international intergration defence of human rights and artistic and personal integrity.

Joined by the creme of Argentine musicians to accompany her legendary vocal style, Sosa goes back to her roots and captures the spirit and soul of her homeland. Her last album contains folk-repetoire classics like Zamba de Argamonte and Tonada del viejo amor, but focuses mainly on contemporary songs by Argentine poets and songwriters, who express a deep connection with nature and life - 'Sometimes I sing Milongas when it seems life won't go on.'

This is a rare UK visit by Mercedes Sosa, whose powerful and charismatic voice remains as unmistakable as ever.
