LONDON SONGWRITERS WEEK COLLABORATE WITH BEDFORD BANDSTAND FOR EXCLUSIVE GIG
BEN’S BROTHER TO HEADLINE CELEBRATION OF THE WORLD’S BEST SONGWRITERS
London Songwriters Week is holding a one-off live event at indigO2 as part of the pioneering Bedford Bandstand monthly music gigs on Tuesday 20th May. Showcasing talents from 8 of the most dynamic and creative songwriters from around the world, this will be an evening of incredible, passionate performances that will take music to another level.
London Songwriters Week takes place from 19th-23rd May in the lead up to the Ivor Novello Awards on 22nd May, paying tribute to songwriters and composers in the music industry. The Bedford Bandstand showcase will highlight the skills of those at the creative heart of the industry including Ben’s Brother, whose lead singer and songwriter Jamie Hartman is nominated for an Ivor Novello Award this year. Gary Go, Katy Shotter and Miles Winter Roberts are among the other performers taking to the stage for this sensational show NOT to be missed.
Tony Moore, Host and Presenter of the Bedford Bandstand said, “It’s all about the song. From Santana to Sinatra, from Morrisey to Motorhead, lyrics and melody are the currency of success, they are priceless….”
Headlining band, Ben’s Brother’s songs are a pure revelation. Most of those on the album Beta Male Fairytales sound like immortal classics that have been hanging around forever just waiting for somebody to turn up and sing them. The miracle is that they have all been written by Ivor Novello Award nominee, Jamie Hartman. Ranging from the old school soul of the single Beauty Queen to the gloriously vulnerable ballad I Am Who I Am, the lessons in love of ‘Find Me An Angel’ and the emotional brace that is ‘Carry On’, to the heartfelt rally-cry of his first commercial single release ‘Rise’, they articulate a kind of tenderness that is often sad but never self-pitying. Songs of experience, songs with which everyone can relate to at some point in their life, beautifully articulated and set to soaring music, an aural lifting of the spirits. “Most of my songs start out feeling blue but become more hopeful by the end,” says Hartman.
Less than a year after Jamie formed Ben’s Brother, the record label which gave us multi-platinum selling artists Joss Stone and KT Tunstall heard his songs and couldn’t get them out of their heads, giving hope to beta-males everywhere. "Writing songs is my way of dealing with the painful complexities of life. I’ve realised there’s a common theme which seems to unite all the best songs. The one thing we think separates us from everyone else - that sense of not fitting in, of Beta-male (or female) ness – is the one thing we all have in common." http://www.myspace.com/bensbrothermusic
The main support act, Gary Go has recently signed to Decca Records, for whom he is currently completing his debut album. With artists and fellow songwriters like Gary Barlow as fans and supporters of his music, Gary looks set for great success with his passionate Coldplay esque soaring melodies and powerful lyrics. www.myspace.com/garygo
